Damn it, I'm not Shakespeare.
"So, that's like, the author of
Lolita
, right?" I ask Malkhos.
"You don't know?" he asks, incredulous.
"I forget," I say. "It's the Keatsian concept of the author always being secondary to the text."
But at least
Lolita
is one of Malkhos's favorite novels and films, so I guess he won't kick me out yet, even if I'm not Shakespeare like he is.
