My 2 year old son is obssesed with ehavy construction achinery. So naturally he watches a show on PBS called Bob the Builder. But what I saw on this show today is deeply disturbing.
The political stance adopted as though it were objective reality is of the most politically correct order. Bod bid his living tractors and steam rollers to chant 'reduce! reuse! recycle!' as though it were 'Ein Volk! Ein Reich! ein Fuerher!'
I suppose the freakishly alive machines are suppsoed to act like childern and Bob their father--but if the situation depicted existed, it would be more like slavery--but this is of course unexamined by the hippies writing the show. At the least the relationship is highly paternalsitic, ever patriarchal--I suppsoe this relationship--meant to be anathema to the rest of the show's message--is used to reasure the childern watching and lull them into accepting the radical slogans.
