There is a sight called Pandora which supposedly plays music like a radio station, but chosen to your specific taste. When I read in a blog that it had no music that matched a search for Stockhausen (as if that were a bad thing), I decided to look into it.
Die Zauberfloette, it did not recognize--nor The Magic Flute either. Don Giovanni, it turns out, was composed by some punk band. For Mozart it tried to force-feed me Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. I am listening to Salieri's First symphony now, which at least I've never heard before.

Date: 2010-09-30 05:01 pm (UTC)We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.
We believe that you are in Austria, etc. etc.
Ah well. Never mind.
