Here are pictures of the Cats, Sylvia and Belle. I imagine Mme. Malkhos will have more to say about them later.

Are you really allergic to cats?

Yes. I also find their blank expressions really sinister. (shudder!)

Cripes, a cat hater! :) That isn't a blank expression; it's the expression of one who is hatching evil plots, ha ha. You know, like a boss you've had, perhaps, whom you disliked and whom you thought disliked you. Same expression. Really, though, I think it's just because the pupils of their eyes are so large. Gathering light and all that, so they can see you in the dark to pounce on you.

I always thought dogs have goofy, "please love me" expressions I scorn. Cats make you earn their love, though you never quite get it entirely. They are very self-centered on the whole.

I think it is the vacant expression of a small-brained predator, like a praying mantis.

I suppose I can appreciate them for their athletic grace. It's a bit like keeping a hawk. I dislike them for the damage they do to wildlife and our vegetable garden. My in-laws shoot them on sight, in their capacity as professional foresters and game keepers, which I think is firm but fair.

Thank you. They are cute.

The kids adore them, and they're all right with the kids except when the kids get too rambunctious. It makes the cats a little nervous, so they go hide under the dining room table. Still, if the kids are sitting down, they will climb up on the kids' laps and allow themselves to be pet. Andrew is particularly fond of doing this, thinking this must mean the cats like him.

I particularly like the way they hang around on the sofa on the last pic!
