Little Jakob
Sep. 13th, 2008 09:44 amMy brother and sister-in-law welcomed their first child, Jakob, this morning at 5:55 a.m.
So finally, I'm an aunt!
He was delivered by Caesarian section, which wasn't planned, but apparently his umbilical cord was entwined around his leg several times and, during contractions, caused his heart rate to drop. The doctor on call wasn't too happy about that, so it was decided the surgery would be safer.
He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and also, I'm told, has a headful of black hair. (Both my children were more or less baldish.) My brother tells me he's cute. I will see for myself as I'm going over to meet him this afternoon. Although Andrew is anxious to go, he unfortunately cannot since only siblings are allowed in; plus, my children have both had colds over the past week, so he and Madeline will have to wait. Andrew, who was sick first, informed me that while he didn't care if Madeline had his "bug," he didn't want his cousin to get it.
I mustn't forget to take my camera. I am so happy for them.
