Long ago Yahoo destroyed a huge cache of photos we stored on-line with them—no accident or anything, their policy just changed and there was no long anyway to view or download anything but thumbnails. Recently however, another web-service has made it possible to rescue these lost photos. I have placed one folder of them on the web. The folder was called Kultur, and I suppose I thought the images reflected the ideals of aristocratic life in Wilhelmine Germany—even the aristocratic view of peasant culture--but really I don’t recall collecting it, or where any of the images came from. Here is a sample: And the link: http://picasaweb.google.com/Anebo10/Kultur

Perhaps this link will work (no idea why the one in the body didn't).

Seems to a mixture of folklore, kultur and kitsch; it is always fun to see anything like this connected with Wilhelmine Germany, it was such an eccentric place. What on earth is going on in that first picture?

The witches' sabbath, you mean? I presume its a group of senile old women who had smeared themselves with flying ointment and flown to the Brocken to kiss the devil's ass, and drink a sacrement made from dew collected off cow-patties, just like it says in the trial records.

No, the one just above with the scattered papers and broken bottles. (I didn't know about the dew from the cowpats though!)

I could make up something pretty interesting, I suspect, but I have no real idea.

That kind of teatment of landscape seems to have been popular though:

"Teatment" would be rather appropriate to the second picture.
