A Rose Bush with a tree in the background, coated in ice.

A close-up of the rose bush:

Oh dear. The ice coat on the rose stem is a pretty remarkable picture, but can't bode well for the rose!

I think the bush will be all right come spring. I'll cut it back quite a bit and fertilize it well, and it should be all right. That bush produces, literally, little bouquets of dark red roses rather than single flowers... I hope it will be all right.

Makes me think of Sweden and many a winter day there.

It is quite pretty, actually. I like ice better the day AFTER the storm. :)

Beautiful...

Ice storms are pretty unsettling while they're happening, but the next day, it's stunningly pretty. Everything sparkles.

Beautiful :) The only thing I miss about real winter in St. Louis is the fairy-tale quality of a morning after an ice storm when the trees have that almost pink color under the gleaming coat of ice and everything looks like it belongs in a fanciful dream. Thank you for posting pics to remind me of the beautiful delicacy that at once brings such beauty and danger.
