We used to keep white boards over each bed, on which we would write the patient's name. We don't do it any more though because it was decided that it was a security risk. Once I was talking to an amiable old Pole who had a long complicated surname. I asked him if it had been spelt correctly on his name board and he just smiled and said "actually....it is completely wrong".
