Inexplicabe.
Oct. 23rd, 2010 06:47 pmThis morning, while I was searching the name of an artist Sense posted a work by this morning, Chrome completely stopped working. It would not connect to any web page (what on earth would possesses it to say that the Google sight had vanished, rather than conclude it couldn't reach it?). Explorer worked fine. Rebooted the computer, no change. Also, the theme on the Chrome home page only showed up on the right half of the screen--the background of the rest was a neutral gray.
Then I went to the library for a few hours, and after diner I went back to work on the problem. I unistalled Chrome and reinstalled it twice with no change. Then I learned I was probably dealing with 7, and and that a beta version of 8 was ready, so I unisntalled again and installed that; now it works perfectly (though I'd lost my little widgets like the weather channel forecast, but that was easily replaced).
I guess I'll never know what happened or why. I have gotten useful help before from their chat page, but there's certainly no need to go there now.
